According to TechFlow TechFlow, at the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting on May 2nd, CEO Abel outlined the development prospects of the energy business segment, pointing out that with the rapid development of the artificial intelligence industry, the energy sector is ushering in new growth opportunities. Currently, half of Berkshire's energy companies have begun to undertake AI-related electricity demands and are continuously monitoring industry trends and the actual potential for business implementation.
Taking Iowa as an example, the company's utility service coverage has expanded significantly, with four hyperscale data centers already built there, bringing a large number of new electricity customers to the region. Currently, data center electricity consumption accounts for 8% of the region's peak load, an extremely high percentage in the utility sector; this means that there is still huge room for growth in electricity demand driven by computing infrastructure construction. The company expects that the proportion of electricity consumption by data centers is likely to increase by another 5 to 10 percentage points in the next five years, and may even reach 50% in the long term, at which point it will become the most promising growth curve in the energy business.
