The Ningbo Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureau has dismantled several cryptocurrency Mining Rig smuggling rings following investigations and coordinated operations in Dongguan and Shenzhen.
The case began with an incoming express delivery shipment declared as "industrial blocking equipment," but a physical inspection revealed the contents were cryptocurrency Mining Rig . Based on this lead, customs authorities transferred the case to anti-smuggling forces for further investigation.
The investigative team then traced the structure and operation of the network through data analysis and verification of evidence. Once sufficient evidence was gathered, authorities simultaneously raided two locations in Guangdong and apprehended several related groups.
Investigations revealed that over 400 smuggled Mining Rig , including models such as the Antminer L9 and Glacier KS3, were seized in this chain of cases. A ring led by Liao Moumou is accused of purchasing the machines from overseas suppliers, disassembling them, and then smuggling them into China via international shipping through the ports of Ningbo and Guangzhou by falsely declaring the goods.
After entering the country, these machines were reassembled for sale domestically or transported to illegal mining operations in Xinjiang and Hunan. Investigators also stated that the network used USDT and other cryptocurrencies for cross-border payments to evade financial oversight.
