Big Tech Big 3 Alliance 'Apple Foundation Model Cloud Pro'... Gemini-Class Performance with Enhanced Privacy
Surprise collaboration of the three major tech companies
Apple, Google, and Nvidia have joined forces to develop next-generation artificial intelligence models. The three companies are jointly developing a new AI model called 'Apple Foundation Model Cloud Pro'.
It is unusual for top-tier global tech companies by market capitalization to join forces on a single project. It is a structure that combines Apple's software ecosystem, Google's AI technology, and Nvidia's graphics processing unit (GPU) hardware.
Gemini level performance target
Amar Subramanya, Apple's head of artificial intelligence, stated today that the performance of this model is on par with Google's latest AI model, Gemini.
The model is powered by NVIDIA GPUs and integrated into Apple's own cloud infrastructure, the 'Private Cloud Compute' system. It is designed to simultaneously enable high-performance AI computing and user data security.
Privacy-centric design
The core of this collaboration is 'performance' and 'privacy'. Apple has prioritized user data protection, and this model also keeps data under Apple's control through a private cloud compute system.
It utilizes Google's AI technology and Nvidia's hardware, but data processing takes place in Apple's closed cloud environment. This differentiates it from methods that transmit data to external servers, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT or Google Gemini.
New Phase in the AI Hegemony Race
The alliance of the three big tech companies demonstrates that the competition for dominance in the AI market has entered a new phase. A new axis has been formed to challenge the Microsoft-OpenAI camp.
The virtual asset market is also drawing attention. As a core AI infrastructure company, NVIDIA is utilized in cryptocurrency mining and blockchain computation, and its privacy-enhancing technology aligns with the core values of the Web 3.0 ecosystem.
