Kabosu, the famous shiba inu pictured in the doge meme, has brought joy to the lives of so many people. Yet, her image has been co-opted for profit without her or Atsuko (@kabosumama), her owner, ever benefitting.
Through the power of NFTs, we have been able to change this.

Kabosu's image was auctioned off as an NFT in 2021, raising over $4m. Atsuko gave it all to charity!
However, the community decided more should be done. After more than a year of planning, many groups and individuals funded the creation of a statue and plaque for Kabosu.

#dogeday took place in Sakura Furasato Square, Chiba, Japan, and saw hundreds of visitors from all around the world. The idea is to make this an annual event in celebration of Kabosu's birthday and all of the happiness she has brought to the world.

The event had many fun activities, such as a quiz and dance party. It also saw the appearance of other legendary meme artists, @TayZonday & @solidbadluck!
Unfortunately @elonmusk couldn't make it, but his famous portrait did (yes, it's the original, by @watchieboy)
