Arbitrum launches Orbit expansion program to support launching custom Orbit chains through a self-service path Arbitrum has announced the launch of the Arbitrum Orbit scaling program, allowing a self-service path to launching custom Ethereum-based Orbit chains (L2 or L3).

Arbitrum says that through the program’s permissionless profit-sharing model, the Orbit chain has the power to make custom L2s or L3s that settle directly to Ethereum or other Ethereum L2s, such as optimistic ollups, ZK-Rollups, optimiums, and validiums. A portion of the profit share will be donated to the newly formed Arbitrum Developers Association, which will help fund the core development of Arbitrum.

Additionally, L3 for Arbitrum One and Nova is already covered by the existing permissionless path and does not require revenue contribution. The program plans to provide support for teams looking for highly customized chain configurations, including dedicated blockchain space, custom gas tokens, native account abstraction, alternative data availability layer options, and more.
