Seeing Qiu Xing's story reminded me of my former partner in the studio. Initially, I thought he was alright when I invested money in him, so we became partners. But the more we worked together, the stranger it seemed; the accounts were unclear, and he seemed very arrogant. Later, I left and started a small business with a few friends. When I left, my friends advised me not to offend people in my small circle, but I still felt I needed to warn everyone to be careful and not get scammed because of my endorsement. So I told almost everyone I knew that I thought this person was unreliable.
Then, a year later, he collapsed. Almost exactly like this person, he boasted about himself, packaged himself, and then took money. Whenever someone wanted to withdraw, he would rob Peter to pay Paul. Eventually, as more and more people withdrew, it became clear he had no money. It was essentially a P2P lending scheme.
What I still don't understand is how he packaged himself so well that my friends seemed to heed my warnings and were ultimately misled…
