Will $GOOG buy $UBER? @Jason makes the case on TWiST!
We’re ending the year with a BOLD prediction. Specifically, that Google will seek to merge Uber’s technology with its own @Waymo division, as a way to counter $TSLA and lock down the next generation of self-driving vehicles. (With Waymo reportedly valued at $100B+, and offering 450,000 rides per week, they’re already a huge player in the automated vehicle market.)
But does Google really NEED to take on Uber to keep up with Tesla’s robotaxi project? Maybe… Tesla plans to start manufacturing its own Cybercabs by April of next year, while Google lacks a manufacturing arm of its own. Pulling in nearly 190 million monthly active users from Uber would certainly help close this gap.
