Someone purporting to represent @DRWTrading and @CantonNetwork, allegedly named Joseph Hable, is reaching out to me through LinkedIn with a pdf masquerading as a legal notice, I believe allegedly to attempt to silence me given I have publicly expressed skepticism about the chain.
Allegedly, though, as I think DRW's lawyers should know this is not a great tactic, so I want to give them the benefit of the doubt if this is, for instance, the North Koreans attempting to hack me, and will update this post accordingly if so.
So here are some questions and thoughts:
1 - You guys, if you are actual lawyers, know that LinkedIn is not a valid venue for service in NY state, and that the registered agent of my business is readily available public information. Is this an imposter on LinkedIn, or is this you guys being incredibly sloppy and trying to intimidate me? Either way, nobody should be opening unsolicited files sent on LinkedIn, as general security advice. Especially not if you work in crypto.
2 - You're dealing with one of the most 1A aware people in all of crypto (and, bad news for you, I am an American living in the states), and everything I have said is public and either a statement of opinion or based on publicly available facts. We both know what the actual standard for defamation is.
3 - As a generic statement, leading with attempts to stifle critics through speech-related threats is a long-time tactic of financial scammers. This is not a specific allegation against DRW or Canton, but certainly you now have my full attention and I will be looking much more deeply into your activities, reporting on them, and commenting on them, as this sets off several red flags for me that have been associated with bad actors in the space.
Good luck and I look forward to your respsonse.
