NEW — Here's the first ad from the Fairshake super PACs against Al Green, the Democratic congressman from Houston who is about to get attacked by the crypto industry. No mention of crypto — just a message of generational change. Fairshake is spending $1.5 million against Green over the next few weeks, as @ShaneGoldmacher and I reported this afternoon.

Candidate about to get a boat load of super PAC support is mad about a candidate's super PAC support.

The largest spending from a Super PAC in Texas is coming from my primary opponent (negative ads, not anything to boost him, but instead tear me down like they’ve been paid to do online & in dc & NY print) Every Republican in the Senate race has come after me in some way AND x.com/patricksvitek/…

Comes amid widespread speculation that Karla Jurvetson, the Democratic donor, is cutting a seven-figure check to get the group going.

Forward Texas, the pro-Crockett super PAC, has made its first ad buy of the cycle, per @AdImpact_Pol. The group has booked $269k thus far on radio, nearly all of it on Spanish radio. Ads are booked through 3/3 #txsen

In which a super PAC incorporates one week ago, with nothing but a virtual Delaware address and a treasurer with the same name as one who previously worked for a New York DSA candidate, drops $413k in an upcoming primary and won’t have to disclose donors until after EDay. twitter.com/JacobRubashkin/sta...

SCOOP: The Trump Admin just tapped leading CEOs in crypto, finance, prediction markets, and more for a BRAND NEW government advisory committee. Coinbases’s Brian Armstrong, Robinhood’s Vlad Tenev, and Polymarket’s Shayne Coplan are among the 35 named.

NEWS: The crypto super PACs are going after Rep. Al Green, first big Dem target of 2026 cycle. From @teddyschleifer and me

Fairshake worked because ultimately no one cared about crypto except those who stood to lose from regulation. AI's a different ball game: lots of people stand to lose from unchecked AI and are quite acutely nervous about it. Hard argument to make.

One thing about the dueling AI super PACs is how BOTH sides are affected by what happened with crypto in 2024. The AI industry accelerationists explicitly want to replicate what happened with Fairshake. Some of the operatives and donors are even the same. Meanwhile, the AI safety people are terrified about what happening with crypto happening again. So they are politically mobilizing earlier than they did in 2024 to try and prevent that.

Yeah, notable that the first two efforts from the Anthropic-backed groups are spending for Republicans who don’t totally agree with Trump.

What started as an AI safety / EA-driven PAC effort to help Alex Bores in NY is apparently now becoming a vehicle for Anthropic's squabble against NVIDIA over export controls. And the PAC's first recipients are Republicans. The bedfellows are indeed strange. x.com/emrwilkins/sta…
