BREAKING: The bipartisan Supersonic Aviation Modernization Act (SAMA) just passed the House UNANIMOUSLY and is headed to the Senate. Supersonic flight isn't red or blue. It's Red, White, and Blue. 🇺🇸✈️💪

To all of those saying Boom has pivoted from supersonic jets to power turbines: please stop, this is an important misunderstanding. A pivot is when you switch from X to Y. Boom has added Y along the path to X. We're shipping one part of our jet (the engine) first as a standalone product (Y), then as an integrated part of our jet (X). Maybe someone someday will invent a term for this kind of strategy shift. It is not a pivot. For now, I'm calling it a boomerang. I hereby swear on my tombstone that we're not just shipping a supersonic jet, we're building a whole product roadmap of them. And we're not done until we have to teach our kids that supersonic flight wasn't always normal.

They say founders think about their companies 24/7 and sometimes that’s literally true. Since before starting @boomsupersonic, one of my hobbies was reading aviation accident reports. Studying the tragedies of the past is one of the best ways to prevent them in the future, and has given me lots of insight into ways we can make Overture better. @MenTourPilot is one of the best resources out there for this—Petter has built a library of relatively technical explanations of the worst tragedies and near misses. Sometimes my subconscious takes this stuff in and recombines it in my dreams in weird ways. Last night, I dreamed I was on the first catastrophic A350 flight. Something went wrong over the Atlantic and the pilot ditched (successfully!) in the ocean at night. But in my nightmare world, there were issues in the Airbus evacuation system. Not all the life rafts inflated well, some had holes and deflated and sank. And none of the rafts had auto activated emergency lights, so it was difficult to find a raft I could climb onto from the frigid Atlantic water. In my dream, I took a note to ensure Overture would have great emergency evacuation lighting. In reality, 14 CFR 25.1415 requires auto lighting so neither Airbus nor Boom could really make this oversight. The oddest part of my dream was I forgot to evacuate with my iPhone, but I ended up in Paris with a working Apple Watch and was going to use Apple Pay to buy a new iPhone and cloud restore from backup. I wondered whether my iPhone would be recovered from the seabed along with the A350 and whether it would still work…

“Deflation” happens whenever innovation and productivity outpace money printing. This isn’t a bad thing. This is a good thing. twitter.com/bscholl/status/202...

Congrats, Europe—you made it illegal to invent something better than USB-C. If you’d done this in the USB-A days, we’d never have gotten -C. twitter.com/bscholl/status/200...

Good job Sen Warren, you blocked Amazon from rescuing iRobot and in the process killed an American company while transferring its core assets to China.

Response to Superpower last couple days has been absolutely insane. We have more requests for turbines than total planned production over the next five years. Looks like we need to step it up!
