i dont blame nikita for doing what he's doing to the X algo
when elon acquired twitter it was making 9 fig annual losses
every major change since the acquisition has been done to improve the bottom line:
- laying off workers
- charging for X premium
however the biggest piece of the puzzle has been to change the X business model
tik tok and ig are cash cows making billions and it's clear that the mandate at X is to do the same thing
this means becoming a video-first platform, and it's an open secret that the X algo already prefers videos over image and text
but bigger changes were needed to get people to spend more time on X, that's where nikita comes in
his mandate isn't to make X "better" for the existing set of users
his mandate is to grow X like it's never grown before
and that's exactly what he's doing
the algo now favors the same type of brainrot content that tik tok and ig are filled with
existing creators who refuse to play ball will keep getting nerfed until their community and reach dies
the same thing happened on instagram in the past
bottom line: i don't blame nikita
he's doing exactly what he was hired to do
but X will never be the same again, and "CT" will likely disperse over time
the streamers will move to twitch
the memers will return to 4chan
the communities will return to their sub-reddits
the technical folks will return to their academic circles (or god forbid bitcointalk)
its the end of a beautiful era
