This kind of control always fails. Fahrenheit 451. Gattaca. 1984. People create some surveillance system criteria, people who don't comply are punished, and a criminal/serf underclass is created.
AI just upped the capability. If we don't fight, our privacy rights could be stripped away within years, much less decades.
