You all don't hate Foundations enough. We literally do NOT need foundations. Foundations have been the N1 way for insiders to cash out their bags this cycle. A large % of the supply allocated to "Foundation" should be a massive red flag for any investor.

On Incentives and Foundations Buying back tokens with investor capital is a complete capital misallocation. It is an unproductive use of funds for any startup. This is the structural flaw with Foundations (and Labs, if the capital originates there). Once a team begins actively trading around their own token, they quickly realize that this is far more profitable than actually building. Honestly, why bother finding PMF (which is SO hard in crypto) when you can simply trade a token you control and make much more?? I have long been at war against the foundation model. Most projects with an actively foundation are completely uninvestable by design due to these perverse incentives. (Hyperliquid)

Pendle and Curve are both top-tier protocols and comparing them is apples to oranges. However, as a tokenholder, I prefer a simple model where the value accrual is transparent. The ve-model adds unnecessary complexity. Between lockups, gauges and bribes, it becomes complex to determine if the protocol is actually profitable or inflating its supply to boost activity. Hyperliquid vs Lighter: take rates over time. This is one of the revealing metrics in the perp DEX landscape. HL monetizes its trading volume at a rate 10x higher than Lighter: a signal of pricing power. Literally this: there's no such thing as "the market doesn't care about our buybacks". The market is literally pricing your buyback at fair value. If your buybacks aren't impacting the market price: - either you're already trading at fair value - you're doing something really wrong with your buyback system (generally the team will sell into it or create new emissions which compensate for the buybacks)

Buyback’s only work when your team does not sell into buybacks and claims they are doing a buyback left pocket to right pocket buyback does not work

Whether through trying to launch a 2nd token or redirecting value to its own equity, Aave Labs has been deeply parasitic to the Aave DAO. The biggest threat to any token and DAO is a competing, independent equity vehicle.
