Pump.fun, the MEME token launch platform on the Solana blockchain, has launched a new trading bot and revealed that it will launch a token, which may come with an airdrop.
The MEME token launch platform Pump.fun plans to issue a token and may airdrop it to users. The announcement was made during the launch event of the new trading terminal Pump Advanced, which aims to compete with tools like Photon and Bull X.
Since its launch in January, Pump.fun has created over 2.5 million Solana tokens, generating $140 million in fee revenue. It has also captured some of the craziest MEME coin trends of the year, from celebrity Meta to live-streaming dangerous stunts. Last Saturday, Pump.fun announced the launch of a trading bot on Twitter Spaces.
Pump Advanced claims to be more optimized than competitors' trading bots because it is internally developed. In the first month, it will not charge any fees to attract a pool of speculative traders.
After the announcement on Twitter Spaces, the team took questions from an audience of 11,000 listeners. At this time, one of the project's anonymous co-founders, Sapijiju, revealed information about the upcoming token and potential airdrop.
"We do plan to launch a token at some point in the future. I won't say when, everything will be fine," Sapijiju said. "Our airdrop, no guarantees here, may be more profitable than anything else in this space."
No timeline or further details have been provided regarding the token launch or airdrop. However, since Pump.fun is a Solana application, the token will likely be issued on the same network.
Last week, Pump.fun's trading volume hit a new high, exceeding $1.1 billion. Additionally, the protocol set a record for the highest single-day issuance on Saturday, with a total of 31,600 tokens.
Pump.fun allows any user to issue tokens through the platform by filling out a simple form in a matter of minutes. Initially, the protocol charged 7 SOL to create a token, but in August, it removed this barrier and added a 0.5 SOL ($80) reward for successful token developers who meet a certain market cap threshold.
Following this change, Pump.fun has created some of the biggest MEME coins of the year, including the AI-conceived Goatseus Maximus (GOAT) and the viral Web2 MEME Moo Deng (MOODENG).
Throughout August and September, the Tron-based SunPump posed a brief existential threat to the Solana protocol. According to Dune data, during this period, Pump.fun was only deploying 5,000 to 10,000 tokens per day, but it has since recovered and set new records.
