ToggleThe Trump Crypto Project Attracts Justin Sun, HT Leads the Investment of $30 Million
Justin Sun just spent $30 million to purchase the WLFI token, becoming the largest investor in World Liberty Financial. Immediately after, the project team also announced that they have officially hired Justin Sun as a project consultant.
WLFI was Established in 2024, and Now it is Clinging to Trump
The DeFi lending platform World Liberty Financial actually went online as early as September this year. In the months before the US election, Trump gradually linked himself to the cryptocurrency industry, including promising to relax regulations on cryptocurrencies. The former opponent of cryptocurrencies, Trump, has now become a "good brother" of the cryptocurrency industry.
However, the sales of WLFI tokens have actually been dismal. The original $300 million fundraising plan was reduced to $30 million in late October due to the cold market response. Even so, World Liberty Financial only raised $21 million until Justin Sun stepped in to make the purchase.
Not Only Justin Sun Joined WLFI, but More Big Names Will Join in the Future
According to WLFI's tweet, Justin Sun is not only the founder of TRON, but also an alumnus of Trump's alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania, and his insights and experience will contribute to the innovative development of WLFI. WLFI also praised Justin Sun for buying a "banana art" piece for $6.2 million at a Sotheby's auction, which sparked market discussion.
Steve Witkoff, Trump's longtime friend and appointed Middle East diplomatic envoy, also congratulated Justin Sun on being appointed as a consultant to the project on Twitter. WLFI co-founder Zak Folkman also revealed that there will be other similar "large-scale investments" in the near future, indicating that WLFI may have more big names joining to support it in the future.
