Asset management company WisdomTree applied to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on May 2 for approval of an XRP (XRP) spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). WisdomTree designed an ETF called 'WisdomTree XRP Fund' and submitted an official ETF application 'S-1' to the SEC to track the spot price of XRP. WisdomTree has joined the ranks of companies challenging for XRP spot ETF approval, following Bitwise, 21Shares, and Valkyrie.
2. Michael Saylor 'adds' 15,400 BTC worth $2.1 trillion... "Holds about 2% of total supply"
It was revealed that MicroStrategy, founded by Michael Saylor, invested about $150 million and additionally purchased 15,400 BTC. Michael Saylor announced through his X account on May 2 that he had additionally purchased BTC at an average price of $95,976, making his fourth consecutive week of additional BTC purchases. MicroStrategy's total BTC holdings are 402,100 BTC, accounting for about 2% of the total BTC circulation.
3. U.S. government transfers $2.67 trillion worth of BTC to Coinbase Prime Wallet
The U.S. government transferred about $1.9 billion (about 2.67 trillion won) worth of BTC to the Coinbase Prime Wallet on May 2. According to data released by on-chain analysis platform Arkham Intelligence, the U.S. government wallet transferred about 19,800 BTC to the Coinbase Prime Wallet. The BTC transferred by the U.S. government is the BTC seized from the dark web 'Silk Road' in 2021.
4. Coinbase integrates Apple Pay
Coinbase has integrated Apple Pay within its app to provide seamless conversion between cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies.
