In a recent speech, European Parliament member Sarah Knafo discussed the adoption of Bit in El Salvador and hinted that President-elect Donald Trump may consider establishing a strategic Bit reserve fund.
Later, Knafo shared her speech on X, writing "NO to the digital Euro" and "YES to a strategic Bit reserve fund".
'Dare to be free': Sarah Knafo calls on countries to adopt Bit
Politicians around the world are increasingly interested in the concept of a strategic Bit reserve fund, an idea initially proposed by U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis.
Now, President-elect Donald Trump appears to be quite intrigued by this proposal.
This week, French judge, civil servant, author, and Member of the European Parliament Sarah Knafo brought Bit into the conversation in her speech to the European Parliament.
Knafo told EU Parliament members:
"Three years ago, across the Atlantic, the President of El Salvador decided to invest in Bit for his country".
"At the time, he was mocked by the political class and [the International Monetary Fund]. He is now showing a 100% return, with hundreds of millions of dollars available to his people, to security, and to the sovereignty of his country."
She pointed out that the entire world is preparing to embrace this decentralized financial revolution. In her remarks, she mentioned that Donald Trump plans to establish a strategic Bit reserve fund for the United States, while Jerome Powell, the Chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve, is now calling Bit "digital gold".
Knafo continued:
Bit is soaring. And the European Union? What is the European Union doing? They are wasting our money on unbelievable squandering. They continue to accumulate disastrous inflationary deficits. They insist on adjustments, taxes, and restraints.
She emphasized that the time has come to change the model. It is time to protect our citizens from inflation and the reckless economic decisions of our governments.
It is time to reject the authoritarian ambitions of the European Central Bank, which aims to implement a fully controlled digital Euro.
"We do not want a world where a European official can prohibit us from certain transactions and even expel us from the banking system with a simple click, just because of something we said on social media or because of an unpopular opinion."
The European Parliament member and representative of the French Reconquête party added:
It is time to bet on freedom. It is time for our countries to invest in Bit to build a national strategic reserve. It is time to develop the mining industry. We, the French, hold the trump card with our nuclear advantage.
Stop taxing those who hold more and more cryptocurrencies. It is their intelligence, their risk, and their sleepless nights that have created their savings.
Concluding her speech, Knafo urged to provide people with the means to protect themselves from the reckless spiral that you have set in motion: deficits driving the creation of money, leading to inflation and chaos.
She ended with a powerful call:
"Dare to be free. Stop fearing your own shadow. Be faithful to the ambitions of our civilization."
