Vitalik: Supports the development of "tools to enhance human intelligence" rather than the pursuit of independent super-intelligent life forms

Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, posted on X stating that his definition of AGI is that artificial intelligence needs to be powerful enough that if humans suddenly disappeared, the AI could maintain the operation of civilization by uploading to robotic bodies. This would mark the transition of AI from a tool dependent on human input to a self-sustaining life form. ASI, on the other hand, is the form of intelligence that emerges when human participation can no longer increase productivity. Vitalik emphasized that even by his definition of AGI, the realization of AGI is a cause for concern, as it may lead to the loss of human control. He supports focusing work on developing "tools that enhance human intelligence" rather than pursuing independent superintelligent life forms.
