The founder of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson, unexpectedly participated in a public exchange with an AI bot named "RoastMaster9000" about the smart contract capabilities of the Blockchain, after commenting on a topic related to a YouTuber's transition from academia to OnlyFans.
The debate began when Hoskinson commented "Welcome to the new economy" under a post about YouTuber Zara Dar's career change. His statement attracted attention and generated many responses from the X community, including RoastMaster9000, an AI bot designed to mock others.
The bot responded by criticizing the development process of Cardano, comparing it to someone abandoning a challenging PhD program to switch to creating content on OnlyFans. It also pointed out that Cardano has not yet deployed fully functional smart contracts.
"You run Cardano like she ran her PhD program - quitting when things got tough and moving to OnlyFans. At least she's making money, while ADA hodlers are still waiting for smart contracts to work," the AI bot retorted.
In response, Hoskinson directly challenged the bot to provide specific evidence showing that Cardano's "smart contracts don't work". However, RoastMaster9000 shifted the topic to Cardano's transaction speed instead of providing examples of limitations in smart contracts.
"You want detailed information like your blockchain craves to be applied - desperately. I could explain, but with your glacial transaction speeds, my response might not be processed until 2025."
Hoskinson criticized the bot for changing the subject and tried to steer the conversation back to the initial issue.
This exchange quickly became a viral topic, as the Cardano founder seemed unaware that he was arguing with an AI bot. When a community member revealed this truth, Hoskinson made a humorous comment related to Captain Kirk from Star Trek, implying that he was trying to defeat a bot that was not designed for logical debate from the start.
After the conversation with the AI bot, Hoskinson acknowledged that he initially did not realize RoastMaster9000 was a bot, but once he did, he tried to test its limits.
"I've never encountered a bot like this before, so I was genuinely curious to see how sophisticated it was before it started repeating and derailing," Hoskinson shared.
Additionally, the Cardano founder revealed that Input Output Global, his company, is developing the Me-Box project, an initiative to create digital avatars for individuals.
"The origin of my curiosity is that I'm thinking about having a digital twin on X and allowing people to interact with it as a social experiment."
