Top potential TGE waves to watch in Q1/2025

Certain cryptocurrency projects have seen significant growth in 2024 and are expected to hold Token Generation Events (TGEs) in Q1/2025.

Platforms like Monad and Pump.fun have raised significant investments throughout the year, thanks to increased engagement and key developments. These projects are likely to launch their own tokens in the first quarter.

Upcoming Potential TGEs

Blockchain analyst Colin Wu has published a list of these potential TGE projects on social media, though he provided little commentary to explain the selection. This analyst had previously predicted the launch of the HYPE token by HyperLiquid in late 2024. The Q1/2025 list includes both returning projects and new entries.

For example, Wu had predicted in July that Monad would hold a TGE in 2024, and it is now listed as a potential candidate. Monad achieved significant fundraising success last summer, and a TGE event could help the company raise additional Capital in 2025. However, he no longer lists Monad as the top potential project, instead highlighting Pump.fun.

Pump.fun, a Solana-based meme coin platform, has recently experienced significant market volatility. When it first reached the $100 million revenue milestone, it attracted criticism from the community. The platform's unique features, such as live streaming, have been abused by traders to promote harmful content. Reports also indicate that most Pump.fun token traders have incurred losses. These allegations have also led to regulatory scrutiny, particularly in the UK.

Wu and his team have also noted several other successful fundraising rounds that could lead to TGEs. Story Protocol is one of the largest investments in the cryptocurrency industry in August but has not yet launched a Token. Similarly, Polymarket hinted at a Token launch after a surge in trading activity before a major election, but nothing has materialized since then.

This research also includes another useful data point: the amount and source of investment prior to potential Token launches. Some names have invested in multiple candidates, such as Polychain, which has supported many large Airdrops in December. This could be a strong signal of a potential future TGE and/or Airdrop.
