AI Agent is undoubtedly the core theme of the current on-chain market. From infrastructure construction, tool development, DeFi to games and other products, the rapid iteration of AI Agent is driving explosive growth in the market, strongly occupying the attention and mindshare of the market. The recent continuous rise in the proportion of DEX/CEX trading volume has also proven the crazy plunder of on-chain liquidity and attention, and the structural changes in market capital flows. According to data from The Block and DeFiLlama, the proportion of spot trading volume of DEX and CEX has increased significantly in the past few months, reaching 20.2% as of January 2025, a historical high.
Under this trend, many non-AI crypto projects lacking positive topics are also rushing to jump on the bandwagon of AI Agent, which has built-in traffic. PANews has compiled 22 crypto projects that are deploying AI Agent, covering games, public chains, payments, DeFi and DePIN, etc. These projects are mainly accelerating the construction and development of the AI Agent ecosystem through technology framework development and application scenario implementation.
Illuvium: Introducing Autonomous AI NPCs to Games
Illuvium is an Ethereum-based RPG and NFT game. On January 7, Illuvium announced a partnership with Virtuals Protocol to enhance the gaming experience of the upcoming Illuvium MMO Lite. This collaboration will leverage Virtuals' AI technology and its G.A.M.E LLM framework to provide dynamic and intelligent behavior for NPCs, delivering an immersive experience for players.
Story Protocol: Hiring High-Paying AI Agent Luna
Story Protocol is a Layer1 designed for intellectual property (IP). In December last year, after releasing a TCP/IP framework for AI Agents, Story Protocol announced that "the human intern requires a vacation, and plans to hire an AI Agent to manage the Twitter account", and ultimately decided to hire Luna to manage its X account, with an annual salary of 36.5 USDC, saying she will bring "charm, personality and a touch of mischief".
Circle: Exploring AI Agents Operating and Trading USDC Independently
In the second half of 2024, Circle announced a collaboration with Solana to launch AI Agents to enhance infrastructure security. In November of the same year, Circle released a report stating that the company had issued over $2 billion worth of USDC in the past few weeks, exploring how the integration of AI and blockchain technology could change people's understanding of work and finance, particularly through the use of "autonomous" payments. Circle introduced a concept that allows AI Agents to operate and trade USDC independently. Additionally, it has built a sample application to "demonstrate this autonomous system" and encourage users to build their own projects using this template and provide feedback.
Arbitrum: Launching a Funding Program and Establishing AI Agent Collaborations
In November 2024, Arbitrum announced the launch of a $1 million Trailblazer funding program aimed at attracting developers with innovative ideas to deploy impactful AI Agents or other AI products on Arbitrum. Additionally, Arbitrum has partnered with Eliza Labs and ARC Agents.
Stripe: Planning to Launch an AI Agent Toolkit
In November 2024, Stripe's product manager Jeff Weinstein stated that the company is launching a software development kit (SDK) specifically designed for building AI Agents. The toolkit supports large language model (LLM) calls to payment, billing, issuance, and other APIs, integrating with platforms like Vercel, LangChainAI, and CrewAIInc, allowing the use of any model through functions.
Coinbase: Releasing Multiple AI Agent Products to Simplify On-Chain Operations and Interactions
In late October last year, Coinbase launched a new tool called Based Agent, developed using the Coinbase SDK, OpenAI, and Replit platform, allowing users to create AI Agents with crypto wallet functionality in 3 minutes, capable of executing on-chain transactions, token swaps, and staking, among other tasks. The following month, the Coinbase Developer Platform also collaborated with Langchain to launch the AgentKit framework for building AI Agents, which can integrate on-chain (Base chain) and off-chain interaction capabilities, combining Web2 APIs and on-chain data, enabling Agents to self-browse content and perform on-chain operations.
Orca: Developing an AI Agent Version of Automated Bots
Orca is an AMM DEX on Solana. On January 6, a16z co-founder Shaw revealed in an offline interview with BlockBeats that a16z is collaborating with Orca to develop a proxy, which is an automated bot that can automatically manage Orca's liquidity pools. Users only need to deposit tokens, and if the pool does not exist, it will automatically create a new pool; if the pool already exists, it will deposit the tokens into the existing pool. Going forward, it will continuously monitor these pools, and if it detects situations that may lead to impermanent loss, such as token price divergence, it will automatically withdraw from the pool. This is because most people are concerned about the issue of impermanent loss. Users can also program to control the token spread or adjust the token pairing.
io.net: Establishing Multiple Collaborations in the AI Agent Domain
The leading DePIN project io.net has established multiple collaborations in the AI Agent domain. For example, in December last year, io.net announced a partnership with the autonomous creative AI agent Zerebro to enhance Ethereum verification operations. Furthermore, io.net has also collaborated with a16z to provide decentralized GPU computing power to support the running of the latter's models.
IoTeX: Launching the First DePIN AI Agent BinoAI
IoTeX is an open platform for modular construction of AI+DePIN infrastructure. Last December, IoTeX announced the launch of the first DePIN AI Agent: BinoAI, built on the ELIZA-OS, aimed at laying the foundation for the decentralized autonomous consciousness evolution in the DePIN domain. BinoAI will use AI self-learning to automatically cognize and analyze insights related to DePIN, and based on the ELIZA framework from a16z, BinoAI will be able to securely access and interact with on-chain data. Smolverse: Developing an AI Pet Game Based on Eliza
Smolverse is a game and NFT project on Treasure DAO. Since last December, Smolverse has collaborated with a16z to develop a on-chain AI Tamagotchi game called "Smolworld", which incorporates the Eliza Agent framework.
Phala Network: Constructing a TEE Framework Based on Eliza
Phala Network was previously the privacy computing infrastructure in the Polkadot ecosystem. According to a previous PANews report, Phala Network has collaborated with a16z to build the Eliza TEE framework, which can integrate TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) technology into Eliza's multi-agent framework, providing cryptographic verifiability and enhanced privacy to ensure secure and reliable interactions. For example, the previously popular Spore.fun and aiPool projects have utilized Phala Network's TEE technology.
Injective: Launching the First Cross-Chain AI Agents Hub
Injective is an interoperable Layer 1 blockchain. A few days ago, Injective announced that it will collaborate with Sonic SVM, the first SVM blockchain on Solana, to launch the first cross-chain AI Agent platform Smart Agent Hub this year, providing developers with powerful tools and frameworks for creating, managing, and monetizing AI Agents, as well as enabling cross-chain asset transfer and a unified development experience. Fuel is a modular execution layer designed for the Ethereum Rollup ecosystem. Recently, Fuel announced the launch of the AI Agent tool Fuel Agent Kit, which will be able to connect users' AI Agents to Fuel and various applications on Fuel, or use Fuel to build new AI Agents.
Gaia: Creating Dedicated AI Agents
Gaia is a decentralized open-source AI infrastructure platform. Last November, Gaia announced a collaboration with the AI platform vana to create powerful, dedicated AI Agents. Currently, Gaia's AI Agents have integrated collaborations with projects such as EigenLayer and ENS.
Aethir: Incubating and Investing in AI Agents
Aethir is a decentralized real-time rendering network. Frax: Developing the "AIVM" Technology Stack for AI Agents on Blockchains
In mid-December 2024, the decentralized stablecoin protocol Frax Finance announced that it is collaborating with the associated project IQ to develop an AI technology stack called "AIVM".
