Grass emphasized its tremendous growth in 2024 and has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for 2025.
According to the company's announcement, the success in 2024 has laid the foundation for important advancements this year. It will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and distributed data processing.
Grass to Focus on AI and Distributed Data Processing in 2025
The network set the direction of the new roadmap in a X (Twitter) post, stating that "2025 will be a pivotal year for Grass." At the first Founder's Seminar in 2025, Grass announced its key plans for the year.
"Grass is just getting started. After a year of expansion and breakthroughs, 2025 will exceed the limits of what's possible," the announcement reads.
A key highlight of the Grass 2025 roadmap is multimodal search. The platform plans to enable AI models to search for insights in real-time across video, audio, and text data. It also plans to introduce new deployment methods to simplify user access and engagement across mobile and other platforms.
Additionally, the platform will discontinue the Chrome extension and introduce a more powerful and efficient desktop node. It will also implement horizontal scaling to further expand functionality and ensure continuous growth and innovation.
Another key highlight is the results of Phase 1 of Zion. The Grass platform plans to improve network efficiency to achieve 60x faster data retrieval.
"Just to give you a sense - within days of Phase 1 of Zion, network activity dropped to almost 0, giving the storage partners time to catch up. No one expected this level of capability this early. Interesting times are ahead," said Andrej Radonjic, a Grass contributor and co-founder of Wynd Network, in a recent post.
Despite the 2025 roadmap news, the token of the Grass network, GRASS, saw a modest 2.5% increase. According to BeInCrypto data, it was trading at $2.82 at the time of writing.
Grass' Key Milestones in 2024
Meanwhile, the roadmap comes after Grass Network's successful 2024. In 2024, Grass grew its user base 15-fold, from 200,000 to 3 million. According to the post, the platform indexed 1,000x more videos in 2024 and distributed $196 million to over 2.2 million users.
Along with these achievements, high-profile Airdrops elevated Grass' position in the decentralized application (dApps) space.
Despite the success, Grass faced controversies. The Airdrops sparked backlash from the community over token distribution issues, with many users claiming an unbalanced distribution of GRASS tokens. There were also allegations that the platform blocked Phantom wallet users from claiming tokens.
These issues temporarily tarnished Grass' reputation, but did not significantly slow its growth trajectory. Three months ago, GRASS price exceeded $1 post-listing, contributing to the platform's dominance of DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure) trading volume and further solidifying its market position.
