PANews, on March 21, according to The Block report, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) stated that it has stopped reviewing national banks and other financial institutions for reputational risk, which the cryptocurrency industry had strongly condemned for being excluded from the financial system. In a statement issued on Thursday, OCC Acting Comptroller Rodney E. Hood said the agency's review process has always focused on "appropriate risk management processes" rather than making subjective judgments about certain activities. The OCC also said it will remove content related to reputational risk from its manuals and guidelines, but noted that this will not change its expectations for how banks manage risk.
Previously, on March 8, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency clarified that banks have the right to participate in certain cryptocurrency activities.
