N8N Records a 5-Fold Revenue Increase by Integrating AI, Attracting 3,000 Enterprise Customers in the Smart Workflow Automation Wave.
N8N develops the open-source workflow automation platform n8n (pronounced "enay-ten") and has just completed a Series B Capital round worth 60 million USD, with a valuation of around 270 million USD. This is evidence of the company's remarkable growth after integrating AI technology into its platform since 2022.
According to information confirmed by TechCrunch, n8n has seen a 5-fold revenue increase, with a double growth in the past two months. Currently, the company serves over 3,000 enterprise customers and approximately 200,000 active users, with more than half coming from the US market.
Fair Code and AI Driving Growth
The new investment round was led by Highland Europe with participation from HV Capital and existing investors like Sequoia, Felicis, and Harpoon. Previously, Sequoia led the seed round in 2020 and Felicis led the Series A round in 2021.
One of the special points that makes n8n stand out in this field is its commitment to the "fair code" concept, a development from traditional open-source code. This philosophy, developed by Jan Oberhauser – the founder and CEO of n8n – establishes principles for compensating creators or open-source communities when commercialization occurs.
Although the open-source community platform (with over 70,000 "stars" on GitHub) was n8n's initial development platform, the integration of AI technology has driven strong recent growth. According to Oberhauser, the company recognized AI's potential a year and a half ago and quickly incorporated it into their product.
"It's a reminder to build workflows," Oberhauser describes. "People don't really need to write 50 lines of code to integrate functions, such as sending an email. Now, in natural language, you can write 'get information from X and send to Y'."
N8N's product is built with compatibility with various large language models (LLM), allowing users to switch between LLMs as needed. The platform is also supported by an actively contributing community, working on GitHub and forums to support other developers.
David Blyghton, a partner at Highland who led this investment round, commented: "People are trying to leverage AI but struggling to find practical use cases. N8N's design, scale, and throughput are what enable people to adopt it."
Currently, according to Oberhauser, about 75% of n8n's customers are using the AI tools the company has developed. With the new Capital, n8n plans to continue investing in technology and expanding the market, especially in the US – where most of their users are concentrated.
