Foresight News reports that, according to CoinDesk, the Ethereum Pectra upgrade is now online on the new Hoodi testnet. Due to two previous tests on the Holesky and Sepolia testnets that were not successfully completed, the upgrade on the new Hoodi testnet is receiving close attention. The testing involves making a series of code changes to Hoodi, aimed at making Ethereum more user-friendly for both end-users and developers. One of the changes is adding smart contract functionality to wallets, allowing wallet software developers to build new convenient features, such as the ability to pay transaction fees with cryptocurrencies other than ETH.
Ethereum developers previously agreed that if everything goes well on Wednesday, Pectra will undergo approximately 30 more days of monitoring before being ultimately enabled on the Ethereum mainnet.
