I. What is OpenLedger?
Simply put, @OpenledgerHQ is a decentralized network combining AI and blockchain technology. Its core goal is to create a decentralized AI ecosystem where everyone can fairly contribute data, develop AI models, and earn money.
There are several key roles: specialized data contributors, specialized AI model developers, Open Ledger, and specialized AI applications.
I particularly emphasize the word "specialized" for these four roles, which is the core of Open Ledger. Open Ledger is not building a general-purpose AI large language model like OpenAI, but constructing specialized AI language models, or SLMs. That means the data is specialized, and AI models are trained using specialized data.
Open Ledger uses a specialized data network (Datanets) to absorb, clean, and transform data into usable form, providing it to specialized AI model developers. Based on blockchain technology's attribution proof mechanism, it can identify data sources and attribute data to specific data providers' identities. Thus, Open Ledger can clearly know which specialized data was contributed by specific users, and complete rights confirmation and incentives through blockchain.
OpenLedger especially emphasizes a concept called "Payable AI", meaning AI models can not only be used but can automatically distribute money to data providers and model developers based on contributions. Imagine you're a photographer who has taken many beautiful women's photos. You upload these photos to OpenLedger, and AI developers use your photos to train an artistic female AI model. Every time someone uses this AI to generate a female portrait, OpenLedger can track that your photos were used and automatically give you a share of the revenue. This is the core of Payable AI and OpenLedger's core operating logic. This logic doesn't apply to general large language models, but in the SLM track, blockchain plays an extremely significant role, and OpenLedger is the universal platform in this track.
Currently, AI models are making big money, but ordinary people providing data and engineers developing models often get nothing. OpenLedger's Payable AI allows each contributor to share the revenue, incentivizing more participation and improving data quality. It's like YouTube later sharing ad revenue with content creators, which boosted video quality. OpenLedger also wants to enrich AI data through revenue sharing.
(4) AI Models Lack Diversity
Most large AI models are developed by big companies, focusing on general-purpose applications and struggling to meet niche needs (such as local language translation). OpenLedger focuses on specialized language model domains. Datanets make it easier to collect professional field data, enabling developers to create more precise "specialized AI". For example, an AI for a minority language might not be developed due to limited data. OpenLedger's Datanet allows community members to upload language data, enabling developers to create dedicated AI.
OpenLedger's brilliance lies in not directly competing in the large language model track, but instead targeting the specialized language model (SLM) track, which can fully leverage blockchain technology characteristics.
Let's list how blockchain technology plays a role in OpenLedger:
- Accounting: Recording each data upload, usage, and revenue sharing, transparent and tamper-proof.
- Payment: Using smart contracts to automatically distribute earnings proportionally to contributors without manual intervention.
- Decentralization: Distributing data and computing tasks across global nodes to prevent monopolization.
- Security: Encrypting data storage, with blockchain ensuring no one can secretly modify data.
- Incentives:::uing rewards for node operators and data and encourage participation.
Summary
OpenLedger's core is using blockchain to build fair AI ecosystem. collection through Datanets, tracking contributions via Proof of Attribution, and via AI, allowing everyone to benefit from AI development.Lblockchain ensures data security, transaction transparency, fair distribution, and prevents system control by large companies.
The OpenLedger team keenly discovered that the general large language model track is monopolized by super companies like OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft, don't need blockchain and won't use it to blockchain for equality. The specialized language model (SLM) track, however, requires decentralized community community power to drive, where AIand and clever combination.
OpenLedger shows us a possibility that blockchain and AI integration should not just originate from technical requirements, but from market perspective - first establishing business viability, then exploring blockchain and AI's potential value. OpenLedger demonstrates this possibility.
