Travel hack with kids.
Get a pair of $10 LCD writing pads. Tell them to copy anything around them
When they tell you they are done, give them positive critique and tell them how to improve
Quickly they will learn to draw/write/have fun with little to no effort, while flying

My 4yo has been reading and writing for over a year, and my 3yo just learned to write out simple words, like our names, and 3-5 letter words.
Removing the iPads from flights has been a god send.
we usually bring in their own small bags:
- 2 rolls of blue painters tape
- 2 A5 sized LCD drawing pads
- A few stress trinkets, clicker, pop-brick
- White A5 drawing books and a few pens
- Small snuggle plushie
- 8 pirate coins
- Noise-cancelling headphones
- 2 finger skates
- a handful of small figurines
These toys take up super little space, and will keep them occupied for a 16h flight.
Best thing is that they have it in their own backpacks and will carry it around themselves.
They usually get to pick a few small things, and will be responsible for them
Ohh we also pack a few hot wheels cars, like one each. super helpful when at airports etc. Cheap to replace if lost.
