According to and reports, the U.S. prosecution submitted a letter to the district judge on Tuesday, recommending a prison sentence of 78 to 97 months (approximately 6.5-8.1 years) for Mango Markets attacker Avi Eisenberg. Eisenberg previously claimed his actions were a legitimate trading strategy, but the prosecution believes he knowingly committed illegal acts. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 1st.
Avi Eisenberg was found guilty of manipulating the platform Mango Markets in 2022 to obtain $110 million. Months after the exploit, Avi Eisenberg returned $67 million from the exploit funds to Mango Markets, and the protocol's community allowed him to keep $47 million through a governance vote. Mango Markets continued to operate until announcing its closure earlier this year.
