On May 6, BNB Chain officially launched the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — a completely new open protocol aimed at establishing a safe and two-way connection standard between artificial intelligence (AI) applications and external data systems or tools. This is considered an important step towards realizing the plug-and-play integration capability for AI agents in the Web3 ecosystem.
MCP is part of the "AI First" strategy that BNB Chain is pursuing, allowing AI to interact with blockchain data through a standardized interface. As a result, developers no longer need to build custom interfaces for each tool or individual data source, but can simply integrate into this security framework to focus on developing products in their specialized fields.
The MCP protocol is designed to promote close collaboration between Web3 and AI, while providing several notable benefits such as: protecting data privacy, ensuring the auditability of on-chain interactions, integrating encryption and AI model protection mechanisms, and supporting compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and customer identity verification (KYC) regulations.
The announcement of MCP is also part of a series of initiatives under BNB Chain's "AI First" direction, including the ongoing BNB AI Hackathon worldwide, the official AI Agent solution providing toolkits and deployment support for developers, the AI Fast Track program to accelerate project development, and MVB (Most Valuable Builder) – a program for mature projects with potential for breakthrough growth.
