According to Foresight News, the U.S. Department of Justice stated that a judge has sentenced an Alabama man to 14 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release for participating in the January 2024 intrusion of the SEC's X account, which was used to send a tweet that caused Bitcoin prices to briefly surge by over $1,000.
Foresight News previously reported that on January 10, 2024, the SEC's official X account was hacked, during which a fake message about Bitcoin ETF approval was posted.
