According to PANews on May 19th, Slow Fog founder Yu Xian stated that recently a "fake Ledger" scam has resurfaced, where attackers mail forged Ledger devices to users with fake instruction manuals, guiding them to enter the seed phrase from their genuine Ledger into a fake application, resulting in asset theft. Such attack methods have existed since 2021, with variants involving preset seed phrases or tampering with random number generators. Experts warn that while these physical layer phishing attacks may seem rare, they have a relatively high success rate, with high-net-worth users being primary targets.
