PANews reported on May 22 that according to CoinDesk, FIFA announced a collaboration with Avalanche to develop an exclusive Layer1 blockchain, further expanding its Web3 strategy. The blockchain will be built based on Avalanche technology (originally called subnet), utilizing its customizable features to meet FIFA's requirements. This move follows the Avalanche 9000 mainnet upgrade, aiming to attract more developers to create customized public chains.
FIFA is not new to the blockchain field, having previously released a Non-Fungible Token series on the Algorand chain before the 2022 Qatar World Cup. In April this year, FIFA revealed plans to migrate Non-Fungible Tokens to an EVM-compatible chain. John Nahas, Chief Business Officer of AVA Labs, stated that Avalanche's technological advantages can support high-performance requirements for global-scale applications. Currently, FIFA has only disclosed plans to launch World Cup Non-Fungible Tokens and a digital collectibles platform, without revealing other specific application scenarios for the new chain.
