FIFA announces collaboration with Avalanche to develop a Layer 1 blockchain to expand its Web3 strategy. This blockchain system will be built on Avalanche technology, previously known as subnet, and will use custom features to meet FIFA's requirements. This move was made after the Avalanche9000 mainnet upgrade, aimed at attracting more developers to build custom public chains.
Previously, FIFA launched a series of Algorand on-chain Non-Fungible Tokens before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In April this year, they revealed plans to migrate Non-Fungible Tokens to an EVM-compatible chain. John Nahas, business director of AVA Labs, stated that Avalanche's technical advantages could support the high-performance requirements of global applications.
Currently, FIFA has only announced the launch of a Non-Fungible Token platform and digital collections related to the World Cup, but has not yet disclosed other applications of the new chain. The collaboration with Avalanche demonstrates FIFA's continuous efforts to capture blockchain technology to provide more unique and creative experiences for fans worldwide.
