According to ChainCatcher and Pymnts, stablecoin issuer Circle denied rumors of selling the company to San Francisco crypto companies Ripple Labs or Coinbase.
A Circle spokesperson refuted these claims in a recent statement to PYMNTS, following reports that Circle was engaging in informal discussions to sell the company at a $5 billion valuation, which aligns with its initial public offering (IPO) target valuation.
Despite these reports, the Circle spokesperson strongly denied plans to sell to any entity, including Coinbase and Ripple, and stated that Circle remains committed to its long-term goals.
