What is LayerEdge?
LayerEdge is a decentralized verification layer designed to efficiently expand zero-knowledge proof verification with low cost and high security — all securely anchored on the Bitcoin network. Unlike traditional L2 or rollup models, LayerEdge does not replicate the execution model but focuses solely on verification, transforming Bitcoin from a passive financial ledger into a programmable trust layer for the entire decentralized Internet.
LayerEdge was created to solve the core problem of current blockchain infrastructure: the ability to verify reliably without wasting resources, incurring high costs, or requiring each node to re-execute all transactions.
How does LayerEdge work?

LayerEdge operates as a global verification system, where zk-proofs from multiple protocols (rollup, AI inference, DePIN...) will be:
- Standardized into a common format.
- Recursively aggregated using circuits like Halo2, Nova, or Spartan into a single proof
πagg. - Data stored on LayerEdge DA Layer (based on Cosmos) using Merkle Tree.
- Anchored with the final proof on Bitcoin through OP_RETURN, Taproot script, or (upcoming) OP_CAT.

Additionally, LayerEdge implements a Light Node Verification mechanism – where light nodes only need to verify a random portion of the entire proof batch, while still ensuring maximum probability of fraud detection. This allows the network to scale without requiring specialized hardware.
Products in the LayerEdge Ecosystem
- Verification Layer: Receive, standardize, and verify zk-proof from multiple systems.
- General Aggregator / Verifier: Recursively aggregate proof into a single proof to save costs.
- Data Availability Layer (DA): Dedicated Cosmos chain for storage and Merkle Path verification.
- Bitcoin Anchoring Layer: Commit final proof to Bitcoin, ensuring censorship resistance and immutability.
- edgenOS: Transform ordinary computers into zk-proof verification nodes (for general users).

Frequently Asked Questions about LayerEdge
- How is LayerEdge different from rollup or L2?
→ LayerEdge does not perform transactions or run smart contracts. It only verifies proofs from other protocols and anchors them to Bitcoin. - Why do we need LayerEdge if zk-rollup already exists?
→ zk-rollup needs someone to verify proofs. LayerEdge helps reduce costs and expand this into a shared Service Layer infrastructure. - Is creating a LayerEdge Light Node difficult?
→ No. edgenOS allows normal computers/laptops to participate in verification and receive rewards from the network.
Summary
LayerEdge is the missing piece in the modern modular blockchain architecture. The project not only solves the costs and limitations of zk-verification but also creates a shared verification infrastructure model – helping all protocols rely on Bitcoin's security.
