According to Axios, Foresight News reported that House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed disappointment and surprise at Musk's tweet claiming he had never seen the "Big Beautiful" bill. Johnson stated that he had multiple good interactions and discussions with Musk to ensure he received accurate information. Musk had previously indicated in text messages that his primary concern was spending issues. Earlier, Musk had tweeted that he had never seen the bill and denied Trump's claims about his familiarity with legislative inner workings.
Foresight News notes that the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, proposed by the 119th US Congress, is a budget reconciliation bill. The defense section will allocate an additional $150 billion to strengthen military spending; the border security section will provide $70 billion to enhance border enforcement capabilities and establish a mechanism to deport up to 1 million people annually. In healthcare policy, the bill will tighten Medicaid application eligibility; the tax section will continue the corporate and individual tax cuts introduced in 2017, eliminate several green energy subsidies, and raise the state and local tax deduction cap from $10,000 to $40,000, a change that will primarily benefit high-income individuals.
