PANews reports on July 10th that according to Cointelegraph, cryptocurrency ATM operator Bitcoin Depot disclosed a data breach on June 23, 2024, which exposed personal information of 26,732 customers, including names, phone numbers, driver's license numbers, and other sensitive information. The company stated that the incident was confirmed by a cybersecurity firm as unauthorized third-party access, but emphasized that "no evidence of customer information misuse" was found.
The company explained the delay in notification was due to cooperation with federal law enforcement investigation requirements, and they were only authorized to initiate the notification procedure on June 13, 2025. Currently, Bitcoin Depot has enhanced security monitoring measures and recommends that affected users set up credit fraud alerts. This is another major data breach involving a cryptocurrency ATM operator following Byte Federal in December 2024.
