On the morning of July 12, 2025, SharpLink Gaming - a US-listed technology company specializing in providing online sports betting and sports data solutions - unexpectedly made a large transaction by purchasing an additional 21,487 ETH, equivalent to approximately $64.26 million. The transaction was carried out through an OTC (over-the-counter) channel and the Coinbase Prime platform, a custody and trading service specifically for institutional clients.
This move occurred just one day after the company announced the completion of purchasing 10,000 ETH directly from the Ethereum Foundation. In total, within 48 hours, SharpLink Gaming has spent over $94 million to purchase 31,487 ETH, demonstrating a notable expansion strategy for the company's digital assets.
SharpLink Gaming has been continuously accumulating large amounts of ETH since early June, following a strategy similar to MicroStrategy - that is, buying large quantities of digital assets to hold long-term as part of its financial strategy. In total, the company now holds 253,487 ETH with an average purchase price of around $2,615/ETH. At the current market price, this investment is generating an estimated unrealized profit of approximately $84.25 million.
