Today, we are thrilled to welcome Brian Strugats to Multicoin Capital as our new Head Trader. Brian will be responsible for providing best execution for the fund, managing our counterparty relationships, providing actionable market context to the investment team, and enhancing our trading capabilities.
Multicoin Capital manages billions of dollars on behalf of institutional investors across both public and private markets, and we are token-focused investors. Typically crypto-protocols require tokens to operate, therefore—unlike equity—crypto tokens inherently trends toward liquidity as an asset class. Furthermore, given the decentralized nature of digital assets, market structure is becoming increasingly more complex, requiring deep knowledge to create opportunities for the firm and funds moving forward.
With increasing regulatory clarity in the U.S. and internationally, we’re anticipating a pivotal “breaking of the dam” moment where significant new capital enters crypto markets. We are already observing early signs of this shift as allocators adjust their strategies and as leading trading firms, banks, and fintechs integrate crypto as a core component of their business strategy and market them to their customers. Internet Capital Markets will also drive further participation and inflows from new participants around the world.
We’ve known Brian and worked closely with him for many years while at FalconX, one of the largest institutional crypto trading desks, where he served as Head of Trading for over three years. He brings 20 years of deep industry experience across both traditional and crypto markets, having held senior roles at Glenhill Capital, XN, Balantrove, and Fortress before FalconX.
Throughout his career, Brian has developed a sophisticated understanding of market structure and trading strategies across spot, derivatives, and structured products, and we intend to lean on his expertise to further refine our trading strategies to help compound returns in the years ahead.
Brian’s expertise and skillset will help us streamline execution and capitalize on the special situations we expect to emerge in the years ahead as the industry goes through a period of tremendous transformation and growth.
