The world's largest BTC mining machine manufacturer Bitmain has decided to establish its first factory in the United States! According to Bloomberg's report, Bitmain's first US production base will be located in Texas or Florida, with construction expected to begin in the third quarter of 2025 and production starting in early 2026.
Responding to Geopolitical Pressure, Choosing to Produce at the Market End
Bitmain previously had most of its production capacity in Asia, but is now turning to the United States for two reasons. First, the current regulatory environment in the United States is very friendly to cryptocurrencies, with increased policy clarity and a more favorable regulatory trend, which is conducive to attracting the cryptocurrency industry. Second, the Trump administration's tariff policies have raised the barriers for foreign products entering the US, and trade barriers and logistics risks are driving up the overall price of mining machines. Bitmain can bring costs back to a predictable range by being closer to the end market.
In this regard, Irene Gao, Bitmain's global business head, stated in an interview that the company plans to initially recruit 250 local employees responsible for production and on-site maintenance. Gao said that although labor costs in the United States are higher than in other countries, its business prospects remain solid, especially under potential tariff uncertainties.
The United States is the Global Mining Center
According to data from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, after China banned cryptocurrency mining in mid-2021, the United States quickly became the primary location for BTC mining.
As early as 2022, the United States accounted for about 37.8% of global BTC Hash rate, far exceeding other countries such as Kazakhstan and Russia. Particularly in Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, and New York, these regions have attracted mining companies due to low energy costs (such as wind, solar, and natural gas) and relaxed regulatory environments.
What is Bitmain?
Bitmain is headquartered in Beijing, China, founded in 2013, specializing in BTC mining equipment and cryptocurrency mining services. The company primarily focuses on designing and producing high-efficiency ASIC chips for BTC and other cryptocurrency mining activities. Its flagship product is the Antminer series of mining machines, widely used in global cryptocurrency mining operations.
In addition to hardware manufacturing, Bitmain also operates large mining pools such as Antpool and BTC.com, which occupy a significant share of global BTC Hash rate. Furthermore, the company provides cryptocurrency-related software and cloud services.
