In September, the Securities and Futures Bureau of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) released its first batch of "whitelists" of virtual asset operators: 9 operators obtained legal status, while 18 operators were ordered to cease operations. HOYA BIT, which is on the compliance list, recently announced that starting November 1, 2025, user withdrawals will only be allowed to the following two destinations:
- Exchanges that have completed the Financial Supervisory Commission's [Anti-Money Laundering Registration];
- The top 30 cryptocurrency exchanges according to CoinMarketCap (CMC) data platform.
HOYA BIT's move effectively severs the bridge from exchange platforms to the DeFi ecosystem. According to its rules, HOYA BIT users can no longer transfer assets to MetaMask, Phatom, or any hardware wallet, thus killing the "spirit of decentralization" on the ground.
No other exchanges have yet issued relevant regulations, but if regulations spread, it could significantly reduce the flexibility of Taiwan's blockchain industry.
