opensea changing the default display currency from Ξ to USD and making users manually switch back to Ξ is not a neutral UI tweak and is bad for the crypto-native ecosystem imo doing so re-centers NFTs as consumer goods, not on-chain assets. displaying prices in USD frames NFTs as retail products, speculative purchases and dollar-denominated bets instead of ETH-native assets, protocol-level ownership and composable digital property. crypto culture is ETH first for a reason. USD framing pulls the ecosystem backward toward web2 mental models.
