The Lightning Network, a layer-two network for Bitcoin, has reached a record high in network capacity.

Bitcoin's Layer 2 network, the Lightning Network (LN), has reached a record high in capacity amid increased adoption by major cryptocurrency exchanges and feature upgrades. According to Bitcoin Visuals data, the Lightning Network capacity reached 5,606 BTC on Monday, surpassing its previous record set in March 2023. Lightning Network data platform Amboss also showed that the capacity rose to 5,637 BTC on Tuesday, equivalent to approximately $490 million at current prices. Amboss stated that the significant increase in capacity is largely due to major cryptocurrency exchanges such as Binance and OKX depositing more BTC into the Lightning Network this month.
