According to Foresight News , Magdaleno Mendoza, a senior promoter of the cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme IcomTech, has been sentenced to six years in prison by a U.S. court. He was found guilty of assisting in recruiting investors, participating in a wire fraud scheme, and promising victims fictitious returns on cryptocurrency mining and trading. The court also ordered him to return approximately $790,000 in restitution and forfeit approximately $1.5 million in assets.
Previously, IcomTech founder David Carmona was sentenced to nearly 10 years, and former CEO Marco Ruiz Ochoa was sentenced to 5 years.
