0/ This is the moment when people that made money in crypto during 2023/24 realize that maybe they were lucky and might not have the ability to do it again.
Whether that’s under new conditions, a different market, or in an alternative business.
Some tips if that’s the case 🧵
1/ Aggressively cut lifestyle creep.
If you cannot replicate your peak growth rate with consistency, high spending will lead to massive anxiety.
Protect your capital so you aren't forced to trade out of desperation.
2/ If you made enough money, increase your time horizon.
Learn about safer industries or investments, and focus on compounding lower returns over longer periods of time.
Time is your friend; your impatience is your enemy.
3/ Slow down; to find your edge back.
Stop forcing you have to make money in the same way. If you really were good at it, you will be able to adapt to new conditions.
You didn't make money on crypto cause the money dropped on your head. You probably thought: where is the maximum opportunity right now? It was crypto.
After a few years, it's okay if you ask yourself the same question again. Maybe it’s the same and you only need patience; or maybe it’s time to pivot and that’s okay.
Whatever it is, make that decision on your own, focusing on your skills, curiosities, and own ideas that pay well. Do not follow the crowd.
4/ Split your portfolio in (1) broad low-risk exposure and (2) asymmetric opportunities.
Stop betting the house on high-risk trades in uncertain conditions.
Have a portfolio that is low risk and grows slows (but make sure it does grow), and patiently look for asymmetric opportunities that can outperform.
Understand risk management, volatility-adjusted returns, ratios such as sharpe, sortino, and calmar; and move money with understanding and purpose.
5/ Kill your ego. Anything new requires a new learning curve.
Do not get frustrated because you aren't at 100% efficiency on day one. If you focus solely on money as the only goal, you will burn out.
Stop thinking money comes fast; start playing long-term games.
Sometimes you have to be willing to start at the bottom of the next mountain.
6/ Build Skills. Crypto is often about high-speed information and "vibes". Most other businesses require deep, focused work and systems.
Don't let your "crypto brain" (which is used to 24/7 stimulation) ruin your ability to focus on slow-burn projects.
Re-train your attention span.
The ability to focus on one boring thing for six months is a superpower in a world of distracted degens.
7/ Reset your burn-out and focus on your health.
After months or years of insane volatility and ups & downs, and a hard 2025, your mind is probably fried.
It’s impossible to apply all the previous points if you don’t have mental clarity.
8/ There’s a difference between "adapting" and "chasing the crowd".
You want to adapt, yet still be on the early adopter side of the curve.
Understand this.
