Flow has reached a consensus among validators and accepted the software upgrade plan following the attack; the network is undergoing repair and testing, and general transactions remain suspended.
Flow stated that the network is still running and has begun Block creation, but requires verification and testing of the recovery protocol before reopening to accept transactions. The network will reopen in phases as part of its recovery plan, with temporary limitations for some affected environments and accounts.
- Validator has reached a consensus and finalized the software upgrade plan.
- The network has created the Block, but general transaction processing remains temporarily suspended.
- Phase 1 will open at 06:00 PT on December 29th (22:00 Vietnam time), with limited EVM and access to certain accounts.
Progress of Flow network restoration
Flow is currently in the remediation and testing phase; the network is live and Block creation is underway, but it has temporarily stopped accepting regular transactions to test and fix the protocol.
The update states that a validator Consensus has been established and the proposed software upgrade plan has been accepted. The current state focuses on remediation and testing to verify the remediation protocol before reopening normal transaction flows.
Even though the network has started generating blocks, Flow keeps general transaction reception suspended. This is to ensure that verification and testing steps are completed before full reopening, reducing the risk of problems arising during the post-attack transition period.
Reopening timeframe and scope limitations
At 6:00 AM Pacific Time (10:00 PM Vietnam time) on December 29th, Flow will launch Phase 1; Cadence will be active, EVM will be temporarily read-only, and accounts affected by poisoning attacks will remain restricted.
During the initial phase of the recovery plan, the Cadence environment will be operational. However, accounts affected by the poisoning attack will remain temporarily restricted, and the EVM environment will be temporarily restricted to read-only mode.
Flow stated that over 99.9% of Cadence accounts will have full functionality restored during this transition period. The remainder mainly involves accounts directly affected by the poisoning attack and temporary restrictions in EVM until necessary testing is completed.
