On December 30th, BLIFE Protocol, a decentralized protocol for the Bitcoin ecosystem, announced its merger with Portal, a Web3 game interoperability project. Following the merger, all business operations will be unified under the Portal brand. Portal will retain its existing cross-chain games and interoperability support while integrating BLIFE's Bitcoin-based products and ecosystem.
Following the merger, Benjamin Charbit, former game director of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, will become the CEO of Portal. Animoca Brands, a leading Web3 investment firm, will provide a new round of funding for Portal's relaunch and will bring in resources from its game portfolio. G-20 will also participate as an ecosystem and strategic partner.
Over the past two years, BLIFE has been continuously advancing the construction of Bitcoin Web3 infrastructure, launching BLIFE.ID, the first on-chain identity protocol for Bitcoin, and the meme coin trading platform Odin.fun. In mid-2025, it acquired Beyond, a Bitcoin L1 cross-chain bridge. This bridging protocol is about to launch on the mainnet and will become part of Portal's cross-chain technology stack, providing Portal with native Bitcoin interoperability capabilities.
