US House Democrats Criticize SEC's Halt on Cryptocurrency Enforcement

Maxine Waters, the top Democrat on the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, has criticized the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for halting enforcement actions against cryptocurrency companies, CoinDesk reported. In a letter to Committee Chair French Hill, Waters wrote, "The SEC has halted or suspended enforcement actions against numerous companies and individuals suspected of securities law violations, including Coinbase, Binance, and Justin Sun. Since then, the committee has failed to properly investigate why the SEC abandoned enforcement actions or how it plans to prevent future fraud and manipulation."
