BTC·ETH ETFs see $600 million inflows per day
US-based spot Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) began the new year with strong fund flows, recording a total net inflow of $646 million (approximately 86 trillion won) on the first trading day of 2026, the exchange-traded funds (ETFs) announced on the 4th.US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of $471.3 million (approximately 62 trillion won) on the trading day. According to data from Farside Investors, this was the largest single-day net inflow in 35 trading days since November 11th. The combined daily net inflows across 11 US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs reached $524 million.
The spot Ethereum (ETH) ETF also recorded a net inflow of $174.5 million (KRW 252.55385 billion) on the same day. This was the largest daily inflow in 15 trading days since the 9th of last month.
ETF funds rebound amid market correction
Over the past 30 days, Bitcoin and Ethereum spot prices have fallen by 1.56% and 1.39%, respectively. This process has led to large-scale leverage liquidations in the cryptocurrency derivatives market, increasing volatility. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which measures overall market investor sentiment, has fluctuated between fear and extreme fear since early November. Recently, the index hit 25, re-entering the extreme fear phase.

"Signs of institutional investor re-entry"
Tonso's Chief Marketing Officer, Wal, said on Official X the same day regarding Bitcoin ETF fund flows that "many institutional investors are selling Bitcoin to lock in tax losses in Q4 2025 and then buying it again." He added that "the current ETF inflows are just the beginning."
Meanwhile, despite market volatility, U.S. investors are estimated to have invested a total of $31.77 billion (KRW 45.98 trillion) in U.S. cryptocurrency ETFs in 2025. Spot Bitcoin ETFs accounted for the largest share of net inflows, at $21.4 billion. However, this figure represents a decrease from the $35.2 billion recorded in 2024.
