Fraud gangs distribute counterfeit supermarket "taste tasting cards," enticing victims to scan QR codes and join so-called "benefit groups," subsequently committing fraud involving money transfers and rebates. Shandong police have solved multiple related cases and arrested several suspects.
Investigations revealed that criminals used overseas communication software to contact their superiors and settled their illicit gains through virtual currency, making the scheme highly covert. Police warn the public that such scams are extremely deceptive; they should be vigilant, avoid scanning QR codes from unknown sources, and refrain from disclosing personal information to unfamiliar platforms to prevent financial losses.
